About the Author
Ty Brown was born and raised in Spokane, Washington, where he has spent most of his life. He is a high school history teacher with deep roots in the Little Spokane River Valley. His family has lived there since 1930, when is great-grandparents purchased the land that later became Wandermere Golf Course.
​
Ty earned his bachelor's degree in history from Washington State University in 1992 and a master's degree in secondary education from Whitworth University in 2009. He serves on the board of the Friends of the Little Spokane River Valley and the Spokane Historic Monuments Committee. In recognition of his dedication to history, he was named the Daughters of the American Revolution Washington State Outstanding Teacher of American History in 2021 and received the 2024 Preservation Media Award from the Spokane Preservation Advocates.
